Order Two-Digit Numbers from Greatest to Least
Welcome to the quiz! In this activity, you’ll be arranging two-digit numbers from the greatest to the least. It’s time to put your number skills to the test and see how well you can spot the biggest and smallest numbers.
How to Order Numbers
When we order numbers from greatest to least, we start with the biggest number and move to the smallest. Here’s what to do:
- First, look at the tens place of each number. The number with the highest tens digit will be the greatest.
- If two numbers have the same tens digit, compare the ones place to decide which number is bigger.
Example:
Let’s order these numbers: 78, 54, 89, 67.
- First, compare the tens digits: 7, 5, 8, and 6. The highest tens digit is 8, so 89 is the greatest number.
- Next, compare the remaining numbers: 7, 5, and 6. The highest tens digit is 7, so 78 comes next.
- Then, compare 5 and 6. Since 6 is higher, 67 comes next, followed by 54 as the smallest number.
- So, the order from greatest to least is: 89, 78, 67, 54.
